Description
Leopard 3D Model Animated
This is a photorealistic, fully rigged and animated leopard 3D model built in 3ds Max and ready for close-up renders, wildlife and nature scenes, film and VFX shots, broadcast, advertising, and real-time previsualization. The high-quality polygonal mesh is correctly scaled to the real animal, fully textured with all materials applied and mapped, and detailed enough to hold up in extreme close-ups. The final preview images were rendered with mental ray.
The leopard is rigged with the 3ds Max CAT (Character Animation Toolkit) object and animated using CAT Motion and Animation Layers, so you get production-ready walk and run cycles plus expressive secondary motion straight out of the box. Drop it into your scene and start rendering, animating, or posing - there is no cleanup to do and no special plugin needed to open the file.
Why Buy This Animated Leopard 3D Model
- Photorealistic, high-quality polygonal model, correctly scaled to a real leopard.
- Detailed enough for close-up renders; final images rendered with mental ray.
- Fully textured, with all materials applied and mapped in every format.
- Polygon-efficient mesh; in 3ds Max the MeshSmooth function can increase mesh resolution when you need extra smoothness.
- All colors are easily modifiable.
- Objects are contained in a clean layer structure, with the layer named the same as the product for fast scene management.
- Models are grouped and logically named, so there is no part-name confusion on import and no cleanup needed.
- No special plugin is needed to open the scene.
Rigging and Animation
Rigging is done with the CAT (Character Animation Toolkit) object. Animation is created using CAT Motion and Animation Layers. The scene frame rate is set to NTSC 30 FPS.
Included animation layers
- WalkAndRun - the main animation, contained in the CAT Motion Editor (the paw icon).
- Walk - frames 01-48.
- Run - frames 01-48.
- +W Walk Run - World adjustment for the walk and run cycle.
- +L Walk Run - Local adjustment for the walk and run cycle.
- +W Run - World adjustment for the run cycle only.
- +W Ear Motion - secondary ear movement.
- +W Mouth Closed - keeps the mouth closed.
- +W Eyes Closed - keeps the eyes closed.
- Abs Standing Pose - an Absolute layer.
- Abs Signature Image - an Absolute layer.
How to activate the animation
- Select any bone of the rig.
- Go to Motion > Layer Manager.
- Choose the WalkAndRun layer.
- Toggle the adjustment layers on or off depending on whether you want the walk or the run cycle.
Note on Absolute layers: an Absolute layer overwrites the previous layer's animation, so when two Absolute layers are present only the second one takes effect. To use the CAT Motion walk-cycle, disable all Abs layers first.
Textures and Materials
The model is fully textured with all materials applied and mapped. The color maps are provided in JPG and PNG formats, all at 4096x4096 resolution:

Software Compatibility and Use Cases
The native scene opens in 3ds Max with no special plugin and no cleanup. This animated big cat is well suited for film and television, VFX and CGI, cinematics, advertising and broadcast, archviz set dressing, wildlife and nature documentaries, educational and zoo or safari visualizations, museum and AR or VR exhibits, and game or real-time previsualization. The walk and run cycles built with CAT Motion make it fast to direct the leopard through a shot, while the layered secondary motion for the ears, mouth, and eyes adds lifelike detail for close-ups.
